    I have been prescribed Plaquenil 400 mg daily to see if there is any improvement in my fatigue etc. I have been told the most common side effects of Plaquenil are increased sun sensitivity, nausea and sometimes eye problems. But after doing a bit of reading, it seems hair loss can sometimes be an issue with this medication as well. Plaquenil is the brand name for the prescription drug hydroxychloroquine. It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil and generics can itself cause fatigue in some users, it can interrupt sleep patterns especially by causing more vivid dreams which in turn makes one more tired. The drug can also lower blood counts red cell, white cells and others too which in turn can cause fatigue.

    Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia. Plaquenil is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito.

  4. I have been on the Plaquenil a little over a month at the full dosage. I think I am starting to see a little less fatigue and some less muscle pain. Joint stuff is taking a little longer. Side effects have gotten better. In the first month I had some GI issues but that didn't last too long. Just having less fatigue is a huge thing.

    I have been on Plaquenil for years. It has not helped me with fatigue. Things like vitamins and exercise might assist with decreasing the fatigue level. I have been on 2 Dmards and a biologic for the longest time. I also take Tramadol for pain and now Indomethicin has been added to the mix to help with stiffness. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is considered a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug DMARD. It can decrease the pain and swelling of arthritis. It may prevent joint damage and reduce the risk of long-term disability. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria. Plaquenil will also help with rashes. It does take awhile to build up in your system before you notice any results Make sure you see an eye doctor for a base line eye exam. If you use plaquenil there is a chance of a serious side effect, retinal damage.is important to get regular eye exams while you are taking this med.
