Can you take plaquenil every other day

At first it seemed like it helped now I feel the same as before I started taking the medicine other than the fact that none of my clothes fit and there is a lot more of me to carry around. Anyone know if I quit taking it if the weight will fall back off I started Hydroxychloroquine 2 weeks ago. One week in and I thought this may just work, except for the ‘extra itchiness’ I seemed to get every night.

My doctor has had me cut back to taking plaquenil every other day. Haven't really noticed a difference. I have aches but nothing the odd motrin doesn't help. I do have vasculitis in my lower legs on occasion so it will be interesting to see if that happens more frequently. Reply Delete There could be many reasons why you were put back on Prednisone. Plaquenil is a great drug I have no experience with it, but many people with lupus take it. Both pred and plaq are often prescribed together. You can space out Plaquenil by quite a bit and get the same results. For example, if you take 400 mg a day you could actually take 800 mg every other day and get the same results. I do not recommend doing this as daily dosing is easier to remember to do compared to taking a medicine every other day. You do not have to divide up the dose daily.

I was prescribed this drug to ease my ra disease, I was taking 400mg per day which was to last for 3 months then reduced to 200mg. Right before I hit the two week mark, I woke up with my heart racing and continued feeling my heart flutter all day and I just felt week and tired. After msging Rheum, decided to stop taking meds to see how I feel and continue with the AIP to handle symptoms and try to work at ‘healing from inside out! Time will tell and I’m eager to see how much the AIP is helping once odd meds.

  3. When your body responds well to the medication, your doctor may lower your dosage to 200–400 mg per day, as a single daily dose or in two divided doses. You may not see the best effect of this.

Avoid taking an antacid or Kaopectate kaolin-pectin within 4 hours before or after you take hydroxychloroquine. Some antacids can make it harder for your body to absorb hydroxychloroquine. What other drugs will affect hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil, Plaquenil Sulfate, Quineprox? Hydroxychloroquine can cause serious liver or heart problems. Hi honey, YES.stopping plaquenil for a couple of days can cause symptoms to arise or get worse.needs to be taken exactly as prescribed. Twice a day, every day. Missing one dose wont make a major difference but skipping more then one, or days absolutely can. Take Plaquenil for the full prescribed length of time for malaria. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. When treating lupus or arthritis, tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 6 months of treatment. Before taking this medicine. You should not use Plaquenil if you are allergic to hydroxychloroquine.
